Growing, Learning, Welcoming
What a difference a few months makes! Summer has brought many changes to Classical School of Wichita, many having to do with the addition of nine new staff members! The 6th grade has two new classrooms and two new teachers, Mrs. Klaassen and Mr. Thames. Art classes have a dedicated room and Mrs. Poe will be teaching all of the art classes this year. Kindergarteners will be welcoming Mrs. Dolloff to the classroom and 1st Grade overflowed into two classrooms with two new teachers, Mrs. Molen and Mrs. Snow. The 4th Grade has expanded to include an additional classroom and a new instructor, Mr. Bowman. Upper Schoolers will not only be welcoming a new art instructor, but Dr. Keister will be joining us in Logic, Mathematics, and Physics; Mr. Dolloff will be joining us in Athletics and Mathematics; Mr. Fahrenthold will be facilitating Latin and Rhetoric Composition; and new to some of the Upper Schoolers but not CSW, Mrs. Darrah will be instructing Logic and Rhetoric Composition courses.
The majority of our faculty and staff spent several days at the Association of Classical Christian Schools annual conference in Dallas, TX during the month of June. Staff and faculty had the opportunity to hear and learn from many of the key leaders and authors from within the classical Christian education movement. While learning from the forerunners in the association, our faculty also had the opportunity to share ideas and teaching techniques with hundreds of their peers from across the country. Just this week the faculty and staff wrapped up two weeks of orientation and inservice and are busy preparing their rooms and lessons in anticipation of the students’ return. These two opportunities and several smaller departmental meetings have provided wonderful growth and fellowship among the faculty and staff over this summer.
The Classical School of Wichita association is growing by nine new faculty and staff, 63 new students, and 32 new families this year! What a wonderful testimony to the mission, vision, and reach of our faculty, families, and the Lord! As you encounter any of our new staff, students, and families, please make them feel welcomed, as I know you will.
As we reaffirm CSW’s commitment to our Savior and families this year, we are dedicated to a community that seeks to provide an excellent educational environment that places Christ at its foundation and exalts Him as the only source of “all wisdom and knowledge” (Col. 2:3). CSW seeks to develop the whole student: mind, body and spirit. We desire to see our students challenged and prepared to address an ever-changing world with boldness based in the unwavering truth of Jesus Christ.
Please join with the CSW faculty, staff, and administration in praying for our students as we begin this new school year. We are all anxious to see how God will lead and develop them this year and in the years to come.
Welcome back!
