Mrs. Sue Hoger

Mrs. Sue Hoger is CSW’s Upper School Spanish instructor. She combines her passion for the Spanish language and history by teaching her Spanish I students the geography and history of Spain, and teaching her Spanish II students about several Latin American countries.

Although Mrs. Hoger studied Spanish in junior high, high school and college, she chose to pursue a career in nursing. After graduation, Mrs. Hoger worked as a Registered Nurse for almost 40 years in many varied capacities. During her career she served as an assistant head nurse, head nurse, director of nursing, ER nurse, labor and delivery nurse, ICU nurse, CCU nurse, cardiac rehab nurse and nurse at an internal medicine clinic and an endocrinology clinic. In addition to her varied nursing experiences, Mrs. Hoger shared her skills by teaching BLS, ACLS and fetal monitoring classes. She retired from her nursing career in 2012.

Mrs. Hoger and her husband, Allen, have been married 43 years. The couple has two children and three grandsons, and attends Immanuel Lutheran Church where Mr. Hoger served as pastor until he retired and joined the CSW staff.

Mrs. Hoger enjoys needle crafting, reading and traveling in her spare time. She is inspired by foreign travel that allows her to encounter historical places and artifacts. Additionally, she enjoys her position as a Spanish instructor as she loves helping students acquire Spanish language skills. Mrs. Hoger says it is wonderful to teach at CSW where she feels the students have an earnest desire to learn and succeed. “If things start to make me crazy, I only have to stand in front of my class and interact with the students and then everything is great,” she said.
